The bees collect the nectar for this intense and creamy honey in the mountain village of Pignia, where Gion lives with his family. The flowery meadows bloom in April and May, and the honey is harvested once a year in June. Gion stirrs the honey immediately after harvest until it gets this smooth creamy touch, which is maintained then. This honey has an intense color and taste of fresh dandelion nectar, like sunshine in a glass, and is produced according to strict organic and demeter regulations. Gion is the only alpine beekeeper who has ever been awarded with the BioGourmet label, and wellknown chefs use his honey for their gourmet restaurants.
This unique and certified Alpine Rose Honey is made by bees living in the heights of Alp Niemet, a remote place up in the Grisons mountains. Gion Grischott works according to strict organic and demeter regulations, and he is the only alpine beekeeper who has ever been awarded with the BioGourmet label for the outstanding quality and flavor of his honeys.
A truly unique honey, exclusively produced for alpuris in close collaboration with Gion Grischott. At the Val Avers, a remote valley, Gion has placed his bee hives in a hidden, carefully selected place where the bees can find both rich alpine meadows with multiple flower varieties, as well as pure alpine rose fields. The result of this melange is a one-of-its-kind honey. Demeter. BioSuisse.
The bee hives of Martin Dettli, an internationally reknowned bee expert and advisor, are located in the area of the St. Gotthard pass. As a travelling beekeeper, Martin always looks for the best
places to produce an outstanding alpine rose honey which is used as the reference for alpine rose honey in Switzerland. An intense golden color, bright, and a broad full alpine rose flavor.
Organic and demeter produce.
A rich and tasty alpine honey from the beautiful and remote Nature Park Diemtigtal in the Bernese Oberland where the native black bees have been provided a resort to extend the population of this valuable species. The bee house (photo) was made by hand from Christoph's father, and the tradition continued to his son. The hives are located at the "Dähli", about 900 m a.s.l., from where they collect nectar of wild raspberries and flowery alpine meadows. Medium yellow color, alpine floral notes.
This honey from a remote valley in Southern Switzerland, close to the Italian border, has a unique mild chestnut flavor, mixed with the rich flowery nectar of lime trees and alpine meadows. Light brown color, organic.
An intense, dark brown summer honey with a great share of honeydew which adds some extra flavors. This honey is produced by black bees living in the Glarus reserve, an area protected by law since the 1970's for this native bee species. A wonderful strong summer honey from the unpolluted Glarus mountain range.
A honey with a truly unique taste: fresh lime flavors and a huge variety of flowery meadow blossoms. All of that comes together with the skills of experienced beekeeper Claudio Gianotti who lives in the warm and sunny valley of the Bergell - surrounded by mountains up to 3000m a.s.l. An tasteful excursion into one of the most Southern valleys of the Swiss Alps where Italian is spoken. Claudio Gianotti's honey was awarded with the gold medal at the big OLMA exhibition in St. Gallen.
What makes this honey so unique is it's intense, very tasty and rich flower and even honey dew flavor from heights between 1000 and 2000m asl where Patrick's bees live - sweet greetings from sunny Valais in a glass... You can truly discover the entire spectrum of this remote and beautiful region with this honey.
A powerfull and straight, dark brown silver fir honey from the upper Entlebuch, Canton Lucerne. It's a honey variety that is not available in every year as it takes
special weather conditions for the honeydew to be available in sufficient quatities. Native black bees then collect honeydew in the nearby silver fir forest and produce this wonderfully flavored
The Val Poschiavo is one of the Southern valleys in the Swiss Alps, connecting the Engadine with Italy. Its remote landscape ranges from mountain tops of 3000+ meters to the bottom of the valley with an altitude of about 400 m a.s.l., and the splendour of this amazing and beautiful nature is concentrated in this creamy honey with a golden color, rich sweetness and broad range of alpine flower flavors.
A very intense, fruity honey with a rich and wide range of blossom flavors. It is made in the Nature Park Doubs, close to the Jura village of Le Noirmont at about 1000 m. a.s.l.
This honey is a smooth and mild forest honey with a light brown color, and it has a wonderful balance of forest and blossom flavors. This honey originates from the Northern parts of the Ticino where Mareika Schäfer keeps her bees at an altitude of about 1100 m a.s.l. The mild climate of the Ticino has a very smooth influence on the vegetation in this region, and thus the bees benefit from a huge variety of flowers which give this honey a unique, broad and rich spectrum of flavors. Organic.
This place high up in the Swiss National Park and biosphere reserve is so beautiful and unique that we decided to offer it to our customers as an exclusivity. David Conradin's native black bees collect the nectar for this alpine summer honey on a remote and sunny terrace at 1920m a.s.l. in pure unpolluted nature. The honey comes with an intense brown color and the flavor of flowery alpine meadows. Organic produce.
This honey is so rare that we did not even print a label for it. Alpine heather honey happens to be available only in one out of five years on average, and all conditions like humidity, sunshine and temperature have to be just perfect for this special honey. If all of this is given, one needs the skills of a passionate and experienced beekeeper like Martin Dettli to harvest this honey. Bright brown, amber-like color, an unique consistency and a wonderful balance of tart heather and sweet alpine rose flavors. Organic. Demeter.

Every single honey has its own strong character and captures the landscape in a glass.

Of course all honey varieties by Johannes Gruber can be bought individually, too:
There is great honeydew honey, and then there is this double fermented honeydew honey from the Austrian Alps. A unique experience. The origin of this honey is the Naintschgraben region in Styria, where the bees live in a remote spruce forest at an altitude of about 900 meter. The forest stretches uphills to 1700 meter, and there is a lovely creek in the valley which later becomes the Feistritz river where Johannes has his bees during the wintertime in a meadowy countryside. This is an archetype of a spruce honey, dark amber color, orange zest fragrance, juniper, malt palate and spearmint. Very limited availability.
Johannes Gruber is also the author of the brand new book: The journey of a travelling beekeeper. How honey gets its great taste. (currently only available in German for 32.40 CHF, a 20% discount on the official selling price).
This honey is made by bees living at 1200 m altitude at a place called "Stuhleck" in the Austrian Alps. The bees collect honeydew from silver firs and Johannes Gruber turns it into a real taste experience... very dark brown color, flavors of caramel, strong! Stays fluid for a very long time.
This honey is made from the summer harvest in the Lafnitz wetlands, about 300 m a.s.l. The area is a nature reserve and the bee hives stand at the edge of a forest with mixed trees. In spring, the bees produce a phantastic light yellow blossom honey from the flowery meadows close to this location, in late summer a very dark and strong forest honey can be harvested. Same bees, same location - two totally different honeys...
The hot summers in the Southeastern regions of Austria make it possible to harvest pure acacia honey, andJohannes Gruber takes his bees to a hidden place close to a small village where the conditions for this honey variety are just perfect. A clear, bright and deliciously sweet honey.
Intense yellow color, creamy, with a wonderfull sunflower flavor - this honey brings the summer to you no matter what season it is!
What fascinated me about this honey was the fact that it comes from exactly the same place as the wetlands forest honey Lafnitz SO (SO stands for Sommer/summer
harvest). However, this is a spring honey, and the bees collected nectar from multiple flowers in this gorgeous nature reserve close to the river Lafnitz, and not honeydew like later on in the
year. So we have two totally different honeys from the same place and the same bees in the same year, and both are just excellent... Creamy, light color, with a huge range of floral
